Each tax year will be recalculated if you enter a claim. This often identifies other overpayments due to incorrect tax codes, multiple employments, ceasing of job, etc. In these cases we can identify a much larger tax rebate. We regularly identify rebates of over £1,000 for customers who were originally estimated a lower amount.

If you claim now you will receive tax relief for the current tax year and future years that allowances continue to apply, paid through your monthly pay. The value of this is usually £{{ App.CustomerClaim.AnnualRefund }} per year.

You don’t need to make any upfront payment to us in order for us to check if you are due a rebate.

We will ensure that your current year reliefs are correct and that your future year allowances are adjusted in line with the current year to ensure you are no longer being overtaxed. There will be no charge for this service.

The annual saving of £{{ App.CustomerClaim.AnnualRefund }} per year for the current and future years will not be subject to charge. You will receive this automatically in your pay once your tax code has been adjusted.

We will also check the earlier years to determine if you can claim back any previously overpaid tax. HMRC will pay any rebate due directly to us and we will forward payment to you, in due course, net of our deductions of 28%, plus VAT, where due, providing the net refund payment is £20 or more.

We will issue your refund through our Uniform Benefits payment card which you can withdraw cash on at a cashpoint or spend in shops or online like a normal debit card. If you use your card at selected retailers you can also earn additional cashback to continue to spend.

Teacher Tax Rebate - EIS Tax Rebate

Teachers do a vital job in providing education and life skills for our future generations.

As with the rest of our country’s workforce, they should be supported in the workplace, when it comes to dealing with issues such as health and safety, discrimination, pay and conditions. This is where the teaching unions play a vital role.

The Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS) is the largest teaching union in Scotland.
Founded in 1847, it is also the oldest teaching union in the world.

The EIS represents 80% of Scotland's teachers and lecturers and since being granted a royal charter by Queen Victoria, in 1851, it is the only union able to award degrees.

Over the years the institute has become a leading policy maker in education, a political force influencing government education policy and a negotiating body on teachers’ pay and conditions of service.

In the 1970s it became a fully fledged trade union, affiliated to both the TUC and STUC.

The EIS develops policies covering the full range of educational and professional issues which impact on teachers in nursery, primary, secondary and special schools.

It also responds to consultative documents on educational matters from the Scottish Government and other national bodies.

The union works closely with governmental bodies on a range of education issues and it also campaigns for quality in continuing professional development for all teachers.

In recent years it has played an important role in the campaign to protect the distinctive nature of Scottish education and the quality of education service provided.?

Since 1847 the membership increased a hundred fold – from 600 teachers at the inaugural meeting in Edinburgh to almost 60,000 today, from all sectors of education.

If you are a member of EIS and in employment, this means you pay certain expenses in order to do your job. You can claim tax relief on those expenses and one example of this is tax relief on the union and professional fees you pay every year.

You may also be able to claim tax relief on any clothing and equipment you purchase for teaching PE and sports lessons.

Thousands of teachers miss out on hundreds of pounds every year because they don't claim the tax rebates they are entitled to within HMRC's deadline.

If you pay professional and union subscriptions to the EIS, or another approved body, you are entitled to tax relief.

Teacher Tax Rebate has an easy-to-use process which enables you to claim any money from HMRC that you are entitled to. This could save you a small fortune. So, do yourself a favour and spare a couple of minutes to give it a go.
